Our client bought this Pioneer Square Loft from a former Mariner who had combined two units and then clad every available surface in swirl-embossed steel. It needed a facelift badly. Modernous worked to help the client open the space and redesign the staircase—a bit of an 80s remnant itself. We completely redesigned the kitchen and opened it to the room, and improved light and flow by removing a fireplace that made the room feel cramped. We replaced all of the finishes throughout this enormous open loft. The client loved a bit of traditional feel mixed in with the industrial loft, so we went with paneled cabinets and some traditional touches with the furniture.
