When our client developed this contemporary apartment building in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, he wanted to hold onto a slice of it for himself. Retaining one of the units to use as a personal city retreat while hosting it as a design-forward short-term rental the rest of the year required a thoughtful, multifaceted approach: a space that felt warm, layered, and distinctly personal, yet engineered with the turnkey durability of boutique hospitality.

Modernous provided complete turnkey furnishing and procurement for the residence from top to bottom. Warm walnut cabinetry and clean modern lines set the backdrop for curated furniture, graphic textiles, and playful bursts of color—including a sunny yellow bistro vignette on the private balcony that frames fresh Pacific Northwest air. Every piece was selected to make arriving guests feel instantly at home, with low-maintenance, high-traffic durability built in.

Up top, the building’s expansive rooftop deck was reimagined as a vibrant community hub for all residents. We specified and procured commercial-grade outdoor lounge seating, dining vignettes, and weather-ready styling that turn an open sky terrace into a true extension of the living spaces below. The result is a dual-purpose success: an effortless retreat for our client and his guests, and a hospitality-level amenity that enriches the daily experience of the entire building community.
