Sally Julien, founder and principal of Modernous

Sally Julien

Founder + Principal

The founder of Modernous, Sally is a refugee from high-tech public relations who found a calling in residential design. She specializes in the remodel and design of mid-century and other modern homes. Her restoration of a Hugh Kaptur home in Palm Springs made it into a Class 1 Historic Site. Her interior design work has been published in Dwell Magazine, Atomic Ranch, Modernism, Seattle Magazine, 425 Magazine, Curbed and more. Her client-service and project-management chops combine with a refined aesthetic to create livable, sophisticated designs, always with a splash of color and whimsy.

Halie Venema, lead designer and general manager at Modernous

As the General Manager at Modernous, Halie has her hands in a bit of everything, and is responsible for ensuring our designs—for both staging and interior design clients—meet our aesthetic. She draws inspiration from client's personalities and strives for beautiful spaces balanced by function. She is experienced in space planning, finish selection and sourcing and furniture procurement. She comes to Modernous from a commercial design firm, where she worked on range of projects for large Pacific Northwest companies. She started with Modernous while in college, working on both design and staging projects in the Pacific Northwest and California. Halie has her Bachelor's of Applied Arts in Interior Design from Bellevue College and is an NCIDQ certified Interior Designer.

Beth is Modernous’s Resident Artist, having received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. With a passion for interior design, an artistic eye and a refined yet playful sense of color, Beth is a talented home staging designer. Her perfectionism ensures that every home feels cohesive down to the smallest detail. Before Modernous, Beth worked as a studio artist for an art production house in Seattle, creating large-scale original works for hotels, commercial businesses, and high-volume print lines.

As the Warehouse and Delivery Lead at Modernous, Wilson plays a key role, ensuring that every installation and delivery is executed with precision, efficiency and care. Focusing on customer service and operational efficiency, Wilson brings a hands-on leadership style and a deep commitment to quality—keeping stages running on time and clients satisfied.

Sailor Dorgan, staging designer

Staging Designer

Sailor works on space planning, furniture layouts and installation of each staging project while managing the Modernous social media presence. She comes from a background of freelance creative work from photography to interior styling. With her undone yet refined taste, and love for blending modern and vintage, Sailor assures the execution of design in a space is approached with stylistic detail.
